Cherith Stoner's Teacher Cadets at McCormick High School are learning first-hand how read-alouds can boost the vocabulary of students. Taking time to explore the text and unfamiliar words with students will increase comprehension and encourage young readers to embrace unfamiliar words as they are listening or reading on their own.
