BY KAREN PACK Ninety Six High School Teacher Cadets, led by instructor Gay Marshall, recently presented their field experience portfolios. In attendance were Dr. Cynthia Gardner and Dr. Christine Sacerdote from Lander University, who assisted in scoring the portfolios. Cadets were genuinely passionate about their experiences and many who had not been interested in the field of education may be reconsidering their options! Kudos to Gay Marshall for creating such a rich experience in the field where Cadets developed meaningful relationships and deepened their understanding of student needs. And, it would certainly be an oversight to fail to extend a special thank you to Dr. Gardner and Dr. Sacerdote for their tremendous support of the Teacher Cadet program! BY KAREN PACK Teacher Cadets in Krystal Brown's class explored major physical, social, and personal challenges that can impede successful learning. Participating in the Fishbowl Label activity, the cadets examined and learned to appreciate others' diversity through role play that simulated how ostracism and labeling have negative impacts.
