Teacher Cadet provided an authentic, hands-on experience that helped me understand I wanted to be in the classroom for the rest of my life.

The Teacher Cadet Program at Pendleton High, led by Mrs. Wendy Brown, was the final step that "sealed the deal" with my decision to enter education as a career. Mrs. Brown not only helped guide us as leaders and educators, but she was personable and caring.  I came across many educators who did their job well, but she stood out among others because she taught us how to be educational leaders as well as the importance of building relationships. I am thankful for the teacher cadet program, the time and extra experience it provided me with in classrooms, the preparation and background knowledge it gave me before entering college, and most of all the understanding of how teaching goes much deeper than just teaching content. Those who feel cared for become eager to learn more; Mrs. Brown and the cadet program made me eager to begin my career, and I strive each year in my classroom to honor the same practice that was shown to me for the students I have been given an opportunity to have an influence on.

The teacher cadet program provided me with the opportunity to understand the meaning of teaching so I was able to make the right choice for my future. It prepared me for my internships in college and gave me a goal to look forward to when I graduated and finally had a class of my own.

Teacher Cadet helped me realize that I truly wanted to be a teacher. The program helped me connect to my innate leadership ability and, through my internship, showed me how rewarding this career is. Thank you, Teacher Cadet!!

Before Teacher Cadets, I knew I wanted to be a teacher. However I did not realize that I wanted to be a special educator until I was in the classroom. I gravitated towards students that were in the classroom for inclusion periods, and quickly realized that working with students with special needs was what I wanted to do.

Just keep swimming. I like to keep things short so this quote is perfect. The teaching profession is always changing so adapting to circumstances becomes second nature. Teacher Cadets taught me to not quit and find a new angle. Simply put, just keep swimming.

I always thought I wanted to be a teacher, but my Teacher Cadet experience was my first experience in a classroom not as the student. After TC, I knew I was meant to be a teacher. Teacher Cadets also prepared me for college as I went into my freshman education classes with a good foundation.

The Teacher Cadet program gave me great insight in what I wanted to do with my life. I know I wanted to work with people with special needs, but this experience showed me what it was like to work with these children in the classroom. It helped me to understand individual needs of children and gave me experiences that inspired me to help these special people. I will forever be grateful to this program for believing in me and giving me this opportunity to further my confirmation in my calling.
