Education: A resident of Florence, South Carolina, Gerard graduated from Latta High School, Latta, South Carolina, in 1990. Gerard earned a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics with a teacher education certification from Wofford College in Spartanburg, SC in 1994, a Master of Education degree from Winthrop University in 1999, and a Doctorate in Education from Nova Southeastern University in 2005. Gerard is a Riley Fellow and South Carolina Education Policy Fellows. Gerard is an Inez M. Tenenbaum Award recipient.
Experience: Gerard has had numerous administrative responsibilities during his 22-year career in education administration. He has been a building administrator at the middle and secondary levels, head of a charter school, and responsible for district-wide assessment, teacher evaluation, new teacher induction, and mentoring programs while in central office positions. Gerard worked as the Director of ADEPT, Induction & Mentoring & Mathematics Coordinator in Lee County School District. Gerard served as an interim high school principal and director of assessment for the Williamsburg County School District. Gerard has served as the Head of School at Spartanburg Preparatory School in 2016. Gerard spearheaded the Alfred Rush Academy in Florence School District One. Gerard led Wilson High School in Florence School District One. In 1999, Gerard began his administrative career as an assistant principal at Darlington High School. Gerard started his teaching career as a middle school mathematics instructor at Fairforest Middle School in Spartanburg Six School District. Gerard taught high school mathematics in Darlington County School District. Also, Gerard coached Middle School Football, Junior Varsity Football, Varsity Football, and track and field. Gerard serves as a board member for the South Carolina Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development.
CERRA: Gerard joined the staff at CERRA in 2021 and serves as a Pre-Collegiate Program Facilitator for Region 4, the Pee Dee.
